Nationals of one of the most anticipated events of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships each year and the event in January 2010, a special importance as it allows to determine the composition of the contingent of figure skating for the Olympic Games in Vancouver in February 2010.

This year, the United States will not be able to send two women skaters at the Olympic Games, through internships at the World Championships in 2009. This fact has been much discussion in the media, whileNationals and the Olympic Games. The United States will send three men to the Olympic Games and two teams of ice dancing.

Among men, and Evan Lysacek, 2006 Olympic 4 took place, a favorite place in Vancouver. He won the World Cup 2009 and all three of his appearances 2009-10 Grand Prix, including the gold in the final medaled.

Another favorite for the men of Colorado Springs skater Ryan Bradley, who took home a 3 or 4 people in her two Grand PrixAppearances this season. I recently had the pleasure of Ryan, in practice, and he seems pretty strong, is a Fellow Broadmoor skater Brandon Mroz, took the silver at the 2009 U.S. citizens.

Johnny Weir is another Olympic aspirant should not be counted. While he experienced a personal challenge this year has brought home a bronze medal at the Grand Prix final this year.

Jeremy Abbott completes the list of possible US-American men to be on the roadVancouver. Jeremy is an important step forward in the 2008/09 season he won both the national championship of the United States and the gold medal at the Grand Prix Final. For 2009-10, was heavily under the guidance of new races and took first 4 and Skate Canada Grand Prix Final.

The female side of the U. S. Figure Skating is currently immersed in a period of turbulence. After dominating international figure of women, skating for decades, the United States is currently looking for strongLeadership.

Alyssa Czisny, the national champion in charge of the United States has a long history of inconsistency in his skating. Alyssa is a veteran expert in the senior ranks of skating, and won his first gold in eight appearances at U.S. citizens at senior level in 2009. You 11 Place in the World Championships and 2 sockets and 4 in her two Grand Prix events this season. This is a strong contender for one of two points for Vancouver.

Ashley Wagner took 4at the 2009 U.S. Nationals, 4 About the recent Grand Prix final and took 2nd Place and 3rd in the Cup of Russia and NHK Trophy, respectively. Ashley is also a veteran of the senior circuit, and converted into good results in their appearances Grand Prix. In many ways it is a kind of roll, "is like the last time and have a good chance that the Olympic team.

Emily Hughes, younger sister of 2002 Olympic champion Sarah Hughes, had a difficult time in the last two seasons and hadNorth Atlantic regionals skate to earn a trip to nationals this year, with 2 seats. Because of injuries to Kimmie Meissner at Skate America runs and took 7, what a nice trip for them was only his fourth international event in three seasons. Emily was an emergency replacement for injured Michelle Kwan at the 2006 Olympics, where he took a respectable 7th. Emily did not skate the 2009 U.S. Championships due to injury, but has a leave of absence from Harvard to be takenTrain for nationals and the Olympics this year. I'd be lying if you do not admit a bit 'of a fan of Emily Hughes, and I think that has as good of a shot in Vancouver, like all the others.

Several other women in the United States were very low season, due to a series of injuries and other issues. Caroline Zhang and Mirai Nagasu, Kimmie Meissner and Sasha Cohen (which tries to build a competitive comeback fact) all the rough seasons with little competition.

Perhaps the bestHope for a medal from the American side of the ladies of Vancouver Broadmoor skater Rachael Flatt. Rachael has done in consistent performances for the United States for the team in recent years. Rachael is currently on the square 9 in ISU World standings, the highest of the slopes of all women of the United States. E 'was Junior World Champion 2008, 2008 and 2009, silver medalist of the United States and the 5th place at World Cup 2009. It has 2 and 4 Finish taken place in their Grand Prix assignmentsBoth the last two seasons. Rachael has worked diligently on his speed skating to work, something that has always been critical in recent years, and is working on a triple axel, but I do not know if he will be ready for the competition this year. Rachael is a very consistent jumper, and a matter of practice lately has looked capable of competing. Yes, I am a huge fan Rachael Flatt and no qualms about admitting it, which makes it difficult not to bebiased!

With the Olympics only 6 weeks, and U. S. Nationals, starting within two weeks, heat for the American figure skaters to polish their programs and show the world what they have. There will be an interesting next few weeks, that's for sure. Go Team USA!
